You may be wondering “What war movies are based on true stories?” Many of the kid-friendly war movies below are based on true stories, so there are elements of some of the movies that are true, but there are also some that are first-hand accounts of survivors of war. But there were so many history movies, I separated the war and military movies from general history. We have already covered science and historical movies. Many of the war movies listed below are based on not only personal stories of survivors, but also the battles that lead to or turned the war around for a country. Watching good war movies can help your kids really remember the details. There is so much fascinating history to experience. Learning about the world wars doesn’t have to be dull and boring.

So whether you have a history buff in the making or you are studying different wars, movies are a great alternative, and we have listed out some great war movies for kids below. That being said, I know not everyone can travel around seeing historical sites firsthand. The Alamo is top on his list since he’s seen the movie and read about it in his studies.
